Farnell celebrates Earth Day with announcement of environmental award

The fast and reliable distributor of products and technology for electronic and industrial system design, maintenance and repair, has received the award from ACM Environmental for the second consecutive year in recognition of successfully implementing zero waste to landfill in the UK.

In addition, the company’s headquarters and distribution centre in Leeds have recently introduced EV charging points, providing carbon-free charging for up to 80 cars per day, while the 1primary energy source at these sites is electrical and 100% sourced from renewable sources.

In 2023, Farnell, working in partnership with parent company Avnet, also implemented a new ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) data management platform to improve processes for gathering, analysing and reporting environmental data to facilitate ongoing commitments.

Stacy Mendez, ESG director at Avnet (pictured), said: “We are committed to understanding and reducing our impact on our environment and we are delighted to receive this award in recognition. As an organisation, we regularly review our carbon footprint and continue to review ways to reduce our impact on our planet through our operations, and value chain.”

As well as reducing environmental impact at the company’s offices and distribution centres, Farnell continues to actively explore new options for plant-based packaging and, in 2022, launched its Save The Bees campaign with a vision to implement programs and promote the adoption of 3 million bees worldwide.
