CANopen Safety encoders for safer motion control

AS MACHINERY becomes increasingly automated, reliable position feedback plays an important role in functional safety. In applications where unexpected movement could create a hazard, standard position data may not be enough - the control system needs feedback designed specifically for safety-related communication.

The TBN/TMN/TRN CANopen Safety encoder range provides absolute position feedback with CANopen Safety SIL2, combining precise measurement with safety-related communication over established CAN networks. CANopen Safety adds additional mechanisms for detecting communication errors, helping safety systems identify corrupted, delayed or incorrect data.
Available in single-turn and multi-turn configurations, the range offers resolutions up to 65,536 steps per revolution, with the TMN capable of tracking up to 262,144 revolutions. A miniature version and bearingless kit encoder with external magnet provide further flexibility when installation space or mechanical integration is a consideration.
Designed for demanding industrial environments, the encoders feature IP65/IP66 protection as standard, with IP68/IP69K options available. ATEX variants are also available for applications in Zones 1/21 and 2/22.
The TBN/TMN/TRN range is suited to safety-related motion applications including material handling systems, AGVs and AMRs, palletisers, lift systems, robotic cells and automated machinery, where dependable position feedback forms part of the machine safety architecture.
