Improved Efficiency & Reduced Labour
05 November 2012
Intier Automotive in Redditch selected UPM Conveyors to automate product handling from a bank of seven large tonnage injection moulding machines.
The project offered a pay back time of just eight months.
Previously an operative on each machine visually checked and carried out secondary operations on the parts, which were then taken to the assembly area via pallet or lift truck.
With the UPM solution, a robot on each machine feeds the moulding on to a belt conveyor located at high level, which transfers to a main conveyor some 60m long for transport to a central area, where a reduced number of operators performs the same task that was previously carried out at each machine.
