LPP Logistics automates Romanian fulfilment operation with 948 mobile robots

LPP LOGISTICS, the logistics arm of Central European fashion retailer LPP Group, has deployed a large-scale automated fulfilment system from Hai Robotics at a new distribution centre near Bucharest, Romania, as it expands its e-commerce capacity across South-Eastern Europe.

The facility has been designed to support LPP Group’s growing omnichannel operations across Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Hungary. LPP Group operates the Reserved, Cropp, House, Mohito and Sinsay fashion brands across more than 40 markets, with its logistics network increasingly reliant on automation to handle growing order volumes and product ranges.
The Bucharest operation was developed in response to the rapid growth of e-commerce, which has increased pressure on fulfilment operations to process higher volumes while meeting shorter delivery expectations. At the same time, the expansion of product assortments has increased SKU numbers and created demand for greater storage capacity within constrained warehouse footprints.
LPP Logistics selected Hai Robotics to provide an automated goods-to-person solution based on the HaiPick System 3. The installation combines 278 HaiPick Automated Case-handling Robots (ACRs) with 670 Fast-transit Companion autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), creating a fleet of 948 mobile robots operating across the fulfilment centre.
The system provides more than 625,000 automated storage locations and can accommodate up to 7.5 million apparel and accessory items. By automating the movement of inventory between storage and picking areas, the solution is designed to increase storage density while reducing the amount of operator travel associated with conventional manual picking.
According to LPP Logistics, the facility is capable of processing more than 80,000 orders per day, with automated sortation equipment able to handle up to 14,000 parcels per hour. The combination of robotic storage, goods-to-person picking and automated sortation is intended to improve fulfilment speed and consistency while supporting the company's service requirements across the region.
A key feature of the system is its ability to scale as demand increases. Additional robots and workstations can be introduced to increase throughput without requiring major changes to the underlying infrastructure. This provides LPP Logistics with the flexibility to expand capacity in line with order growth, rather than having to undertake significant redevelopment of the facility.
The approach also addresses the changing nature of fashion fulfilment, where large and diverse product assortments can place particular demands on storage capacity and order picking. The high-density automated storage system enables a greater number of SKUs to be held within the available footprint, while robotic handling provides flexibility in moving inventory through the facility.
The project was delivered in less than six months, allowing LPP Logistics to bring the additional capacity online rapidly while maintaining operational continuity.
