Mobile robotics navigation

06 March 2014

BlueBotics Autonomous Navigation Technology (ANT) is a smart component that enables automated guided vehicles, platforms or robots to find their way and navigate independently in known spaces, without the need for any additional infrastructure.

It uses natural features around the units to identify position and home in accurately on the destination, skilfully avoiding any obstacles in the way. At its heart are industry-proven sensors: ANT combines data from encoders and pre-fitted safety laser scanners, achieving an accuracy of ±1cm.

The technology has been successfully implemented at the Ospedale Niguarda hospital in Milan where AGVs move independently around the premises, delivering meals, taking washing to the laundry and disposing of waste, and fetching medicines and medical accessories from the dispensary. It also plays an essential role in the Cleanfixrobo2 cleaning robot.
