RS to host educator workshops
07 November 2014
RS Components has launched an exclusive initiative for supporting engineering education in the UK. As a part of RS University, the company will host two events aimed at educators on 19th and 20th November at the University of Hertfordshire.
The educator days will include workshops on the powerful DesignSpark PCB and DesignSpark Mechanical design tools offered by RS. Also featured will be guest talks from Red Pitaya, innovators in test and measurement, and product demonstrations from RepRapPro, pioneers in 3D printing technology. In addition, there will be a special prize giveaway each day including Arduino Starter Kits and a RepRapPro Ormerod 3D Printer.
19th November: ‘DesignSpark PCB for beginners’ workshop and guest talk by Red Pitaya
The ideal tool for rapid prototyping, DesignSpark PCB is a PCB design tool, which is easy to use with no limitations or licensing restrictions. Available at no charge, the software has proved immensely popular with over 250,000 registered users and an ever-growing online community sharing their creative achievements. During the full day event, DesignSpark PCB specialists will demonstrate how to use the tool whilst also offering software support.
Representatives from Red Pitaya, developers of the innovative open source test and measurement instrument and supporting ecosystem, will give a special talk and demonstration on why the product is generating special interest within the industry.
20th November: ‘DesignSpark Mechanical for beginners’ workshop and guest talk by RepRapPro
This workshop is aimed at educators who face a time challenge when teaching students how to use complex 3D CAD packages rather than mechanical theory. Showcasing the tangible benefits of using DesignSpark Mechanical as an easy to learn software, due to its intuitive and unique "Direct Modelling” system, DesignSpark Mechanical experts will demonstrate how to use this tool for creating intricate 3D designs in hours enabling prototypes to be 3D-printed on the same day.
During this workshop, and over the course of the two days, experts from RepRapPro will talk about their latest product range and provide an insight into the world of 3D printing.
"This is an exciting opportunity for educators, both from external and host universities, to learn about our innovative design tools for free and get their queries answered instantly by the expert team,” said Mark Cundle, head of Technical Marketing at RS Components. "By partnering with leading suppliers we are delighted to be able to support engineering education and the overall academic community. This initiative is a reflection of our ongoing commitment towards enhancing engineering education for all.”
