Balluff introduces hundreds of new products to its portfolio

09 December 2014

sensors specialist, Balluff, has added hundreds of products to its portfolio following the acquisition of high precision manufacturer Sensor Technologie München (STM).

STM joined the Balluff Group, earlier this year, bringing with it expertise in micro -optical components including a patented production process for LED, photodiode, phototransistor, and laser diode units.

As a result more than 500 products have been added to Balluff’s existing range and the company plans to expand further its sensor miniaturisation offering for industrial automation.

Bryan Hall from Balluff UK said: "The integration of STM into the Balluff group means we are now able to offer an even wider wide range of specialist products. We’re particularly pleased to be able to implement exceptional optical precision in extremely small housings, giving reliable detection of tiny objects in tight spaces - without any interference from reflections in the surrounding area."

"Now we also have, for example, miniature photoelectric heads with a separate electronic processor unit, together with a highly flexible cable making them a genuine technical alternative to conventional fibre optics, with many added advantages for our customers.

"We’ve also added specialist solutions including ultra high vacuum, liquid/bubble detection in tubes and pipes and high resolution light band sensors to our portfolio.”

In addition the integration of STM has opened new channels for growth into important markets for Balluff such as medical technology and laboratory automation.
