Absolute position measuring system
28 April 2014
Featuring a robust metal housing with steel bottom for protection against electromagnetic interference, the BML-S1G absolute position measuring system from Balluff is designed for heavy-duty environments.
Offering high degrees precision and resolution at measuring lengths up to 48m, it is said to open up applications which were previously the domain of optical measuring systems.
Protected to IP 67, the system consists of a sensor head and a magnetically encoded tape. The sensor head glides at an operating gap over the measurement body, which is magnetised with alternating polarity. Due to its absolute encoding, the position value is available immediately after the system is switched on, without a reference run.
