Advanced Engineering gains momentum

The show, which will feature over 700 companies, welcomes a whole host of first time exhibitors, exciting product launches and a hotly anticipated Open Conference programme.

Advanced Engineering UK has announced that global Tier 1 automotive supplier, Magna International is increasing its involvement at this year’s show. It will run 1-2-1 meetings with interested innovators, deliver a keynote in the show’s Open Conference programme and take an expanded exhibition stand.

It is also hosting and sponsoring the Enabling Innovation Poster Zone, which provides a unique opportunity for early stage innovators to showcase breakthrough ideas, products and processes to the UK’s largest advanced engineering audience. The ‘poster’ submissions will come from incubator level organisations, university students, research-based companies and start-ups. The Zone will give the 13,000 visitors attending the show the chance to uncover potential technologies, partners and untapped capability.

Technology Symposium

SAE International, a global association made up of more than 137,000 engineers and technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries, is also deepening its connections with the show by hosting its own co-located Technology Symposium at the NEC.

SAE International is running four expert speaker sessions as part of the Advanced Engineering UK’s Open Conference programme, which is billed as the UK’s largest ‘free to attend’ engineering seminar programme. The Open Conference will provide attendees with an invaluable blend of expert insight covering the latest innovations, technologies and applications across the entire engineering spectrum. The two day programme will contain critical industry updates, collaborative initiatives and contributions from pivotal organisations that are active in developing the infrastructure of the advanced engineering sector. SAE experts in particular will discuss ‘The Digital Thread’, ‘Connectivity’, ‘Cybersecurity’ and ‘Integrated Vehicle Health Management and Maintenance Credits’ during their seminar sessions.

Innovative suppliers

In addition to the conference programme. Advanced Engineering UK is the perfect place for visitors to source new ideas, technologies and suppliers - all under one roof. Innovation will take centre stage, with numerous exhibitors using the show to launch new products and services to the wider engineering market.

For instance, ETPS the leading provider of power supplies and test systems will be showcasing its new super capacitor emulation GUI. It allows the power supply to accurately emulate the electrical characteristics of a real super capacitor stack. It reduces preparation time, eliminates operator error and result variations, plus it minimises external variables.

Perceptron will be exhibiting its recently launched ScanR. It is the world’s first green laser, for use with portable and fixed coordinate measuring machines. It brings with it an enhanced dynamic range, improved material coverage, increased accuracy and a superior edge detection.

Alicona is using the show to present its optical metrology robot measuring system to the UK market for the first time. This 3D measurement sensor can be successfully implemented into an array of different industries, providing users with a flexible measurement solution for quality assurance applications. It saves time during the manufacturing process and allows quality assurance to be included, whilst providing users with real-time information.

Trotec will be displaying its Speedy 360, the newest addition to its Speedy line of laser engravers. It has been designed to improve accessibility with a fully flexible front cover, ensuring optimum productivity.

Nordson EFD is introducing its xQR41 Series MicroDotTM needle valve. This new valve features a 60% smaller form factor in comparison to standard valves, an exchangeable modular design and a unique quick release clasp.
