Expanded focus on innovation

01 September 2025

The UK’s largest processing and packaging machinery, robotics, and industrial vision exhibition, PPMA Total Show, will return to Birmingham’s NEC from 23-25 September 2025

ORGANiSED BY Automate UK, this year’s event promises a stronger technical programme, expanded live demonstrations, and enhanced networking opportunities for manufacturers seeking to optimise operations, reduce costs, and future-proof their production environments.

Building on 2024 Success

The 2024 edition delivered record satisfaction, with over 80% of visitors reporting they discovered new solutions directly applicable to their businesses. In 2025, the show will scale further, hosting 350+ exhibitors and more than 1500 represented brands.

Scott McKenna, chief operating officer at Automate UK, said: “The PPMA Show 2024 was a great success, and this year’s show will build on that, giving attendees access to cutting-edge technology and solutions to optimise performance, reduce costs, and future-proof their businesses. This year, we’re offering visitors to chance to benefit and learn from expert-led seminars with relevant topics including sustainability, smart manufacturing, and operational efficiency, as well as dedicated networking opportunities throughout the course of the show.”

One of 2024’s standout features, Innovations Eleven, provided a live launch platform for exhibitors to demonstrate breakthrough technologies. For 2025, this has evolved into a larger live demo theatre, which will be broadcast via PPMA Total Show TV to extend reach across the exhibition floor.

In addition, daily innovation tours will provide technical context around showcased solutions, helping attendees evaluate deployment potential within their own operations.

Key technology highlights

Several world-leading suppliers will showcase equipment designed to address pressing challenges in manufacturing:

- Sew-Eurodrive will demonstrate the Beck Flow Pack R, a sustainable paper-based packaging machine that combines high-speed throughput with energy-efficient automation. Its Gary the Gantry 2 multi-axis system integrates MOVIKIT® modules, extra-low voltage drives, and modular configuration for simplified gantry design and deployment.

- Fortress Technology will present the Vyper Vision System, a quality-control solution that applies advanced image capture to automate label inspection, including barcode verification and optical character recognition. Integrated with metal detection and checkweighing, it delivers a comprehensive inspection ecosystem to reduce waste, maintain compliance, and safeguard product integrity.

- Shemesh Automation UK will unveil the Alantra P+, a compact filler-capper monobloc designed for high-throughput packaging in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food and beverage. Featuring servo-driven piston filling and multi-capping flexibility, it integrates automated closure inspection and missed-cap handling to minimise downtime and ensure consistent quality.

Networking and knowledge exchange

Beyond technology, the show emphasises knowledge-sharing and collaboration. An exclusive networking reception sponsored by Rockwell Automation will take place on opening day, offering attendees the chance to connect with peers, suppliers, and potential partners.

The technical seminar programme will also feature high-profile keynote speakers, including:

- Levi Roots, entrepreneur and Reggae Reggae Sauce founder,

- Mike Coupe, former CEO of J Sainsbury, known for leading the company’s strategic shift toward online and convenience retail,

- Priya Lakhani OBE, founder of AI and education technology firm CENTURY, and co-host of BBC News’s AI Decoded.

Outlook for 2025

With a comprehensive exhibitor line-up that includes Reiser, IMA Ilapak, Coesia Group, Bradman Lake, SMC Pneumatics, Ulma, Ilpra, PFM, Festo, Videojet, Mettler-Toledo, Somic, Romaco, Omron, and Schubert, the 2025 edition is positioned as the most technically advanced PPMA Total Show to date.

For manufacturers navigating sustainability pressures, labour challenges, and rising demand for operational agility, the event offers a unique opportunity to evaluate next-generation automation, robotics, and inspection technologies in one place.
