Sintered Materials Mean a Longer Service Life

12 October 2012

Amongst the products showcased on the iwis drive systems stand at Drives & Controls will be an improved generation of low maintenance chains of the Everlast Plus series. It is reported that thanks to advanced sintered metals the new black coated roller chains have a significantly extended service life.

The improved properties of the Everlast Plus chains result mainly from the modern sintered materials they are made from. The goal in their development was to achieve a major reduction in friction wear – and a corresponding extension of wear lifespan – without the need for relubrication and without a marked increase in production costs.

In laboratory tests the chains with the new oil-soaked sintered bushes and a slightly modified bolt specification showed an improvement in wear lifespan of more than 300%. To visually distinguish the new Everlast Plus chains from their predecessors, all components are coated black.

The Everlast Plus product programme fulfils all requirements of ISO 606, DIN 8187 and DIN 8188. The only change in the chain’s geometrical design is the slightly protruding track bushing, which reduces friction between inner and outer guide plates. Stand E7
