Race to success

The University of Hertfordshire’s race team entry in the prestigious Formula Student competition, UH Racing, has enjoyed success in both the UK and German events during the 2016 racing calendar – all with a little help from a number of high performance LOCTITE products from Henkel.
On the 2016 car the laser cut profile of the aluminium aerofoil is bonded into the carbon fibre wings with LOCTITE 9466 before being mechanically fastened to the end plates. A two-part epoxy, LOCTITE 9466 is a toughened, multiple-purpose structural adhesive with high bonding strength for substrates that include metals and most plastics.
The powertrain of the car takes advantage of various different LOCTITE threadlockers. LOCTITE products are also used to seal the covers on the car’s new Honda CBR500 engine.
