Control and monitoring devices

Control devices are used to set up, start and end processes – in emergency situations, they can stop entire applications by pressing a single button. Monitoring devices display the operating condition of a machine or system and indicate changes and faults, for example with colored light signals. By convention, the color green indicates fault-free operation, while red stands for a failure, fault or standstill.

Typically, the actuator and contact block constitute a functional unit in control and monitoring devices. This makes them very compact, allowing the assembly of complex, densely populated control panels.
