Easy-fit abrasion rings extend conduit lifespan

Manufactured in the UK from nylon PA66 and with excellent low fire hazard properties, abrasion rings are said to be ideal for applications where abrasion or mechanical wear of non-metallic conduit could present a potential hazard. Flexicon’s product solution offers a further layer of mechanical protection in applications where the conduit may come into contact with other objects or surfaces through movement or vibration.

The abrasion rings are supplied as two half shells complete with screws, which are wrapped around the conduit to create a mechanical barrier between the conduit and any surface that it may come in to contact with. This two-piece design means the solution can be applied both retrospectively and, anywhere along the length of conduit, offering a cost-effective option to protect against chafing and also eliminate further damage if detected, thereby extending conduit lifespan.

Installation is simple as the rings’ internal ribs line up with the corrugations in of the conduit. This helps to prevent movement and maintain the abrasion rings’ position on the conduit, providing a perfect and reliable fit first time.

Designed with safety in mind, the new abrasion rings have been indepdendently tested and offer extra low fire hazard properties, being self-extinguishing with low smoke emission and toxicity in the event of exposure to fire. Manufactured using PA66 material, they are also halogen, sulphur and phosphorous free.

Products in the range are available to fit all non-metallic corrugated conduit sizes from Flexicon ranging from 42 to 54 mm.
