Matara appoints new business development managers

02 December 2024

Matara has appointed Kevin Halliday and Graham Theobald to the role of business development manager, with Halliday covering the North of England, Scotland and Ireland, and Theobald responsible for the East and Southeast of England.

Kevin Halliday not only brings 20 years of experience in the automation industry - with a particular focus on pneumatics - with him but has been a Matara UK customer himself, so has firsthand knowledge of the company’s products and services.

His positive experience of working with Matara is one of the driving factors in his decision to join the company: “Having been a customer of Matara UK, I was always impressed by their high-quality products and commitment to customer service. Their focus on innovative automation solutions and their approach to building long-term relationships resonated with my own values and professional experience. Joining a company that prioritises both technical expertise and customer trust seemed like a natural next step in my career.”

Graham Theobald may not have had direct dealings with Matara in his previous employment, but the company’s reputation was well known to him, which was reinforced during the interview process: “When I attended Matara, the culture was great, people were friendly, and everything was well organised. The Matara team made me feel so welcome from day one.”  He has worked in a sales and business development capacity for nearly 20 years, with the past seven years in the engineering sector, providing him with both breadth and depth of experience.

Both share a passion for problem-solving and fostering customer relations, making them ideal for the role of Business Development Managers at Matara.

“I like that an issue can be overcome by thinking outside the box and communicating with others,” states Halliday. “I enjoy building a rapport with my clients over several years and knowing that they will always call me if they have an issue that needs resolving.”

Theobald thinks similarly: “Throughout my career, I've specialised in machine design and development, consistently delivering innovative solutions to meet diverse customer needs. My favourite part of the job is problem-solving - being able to identify challenges within a customer’s operation and offering solutions that not only resolve those issues but also enhance their overall performance. Building long-term relationships with clients based on trust and accountability is also something I truly enjoy. The most challenging aspect is staying ahead in a rapidly evolving industry where technology is constantly changing. However, I see this as an exciting opportunity to continuously learn and adapt, ensuring that we offer the most relevant and advanced solutions to our customers.”

As Matara’s latest BDMs, both will be responsible for driving sales growth across their regions by building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, and ensuring Matara’s automation and pneumatic solutions are effectively delivered to meet their needs.

Established in 1995, Matara is a specialist supplier of bespoke linear motion, automation, and pneumatic components. Based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, Matara is a team of 33 employees, serving a wide range of industries, including printing and packaging, food & drink, pharmaceutical and metal processing.
