Complete actuation service
10 February 2014
SIPOS has demonstrated its complete actuation service capabilities with the installation and commissioning of over 50 actuators for the Freimann combined heat and power plant, which supplies electricity to the power grid of SWM, Munich’s public utility company.
Part of an automation upgrade at the scheme, the SIPOS 5 actuators supplied feature a PROFIBUS DP interface for high speed data communications. Additionally, the site’s existing Siemens control system has been upgraded with a new DCS, the Siemens Power and Process Automation T3000.
Key reasons cited for the selection of the SIPOS 5 actuators were control accuracy and SIPOS’ slim spare parts concept. SWM was also impressed by the ability to reduce transients in the district heating network by utilising the programmable stroke-time function of the SIPOS 5.
