Solenoid Actuators
08 October 2024
In the most part, machine guarding on industrial machinery is fitted with guard-locking safety interlocks (solenoid interlocks) and for those machinery safety applications requiring short-stroke linear actuators to act as safety interlocks, Penny + Giles has a range of solenoid actuator designs.
European safety legislation (EN 1088 and EN1037) requires that hazardous areas on machinery and plant remain inaccessible until all dangerous machine movements have stopped. This can be achieved by installing a solenoid interlock on any moveable machine safety guards. This legislation also applies to protecting machinery against unexpected start-up of machinery. These solenoid interlocks also serve to exclude any unauthorised intervention in the machine cycle or any unexpected machine stop by an unplanned opening of a safety guard.
