Replacement fan drive
27 April 2014
At a cement plant in the Arabian Peninsula, Menzel Elektromotoren has replaced a slip ring motor used as a fan drive, installing a new model.

The previous motor, a Japanese construction with a base frame that dated from the 1960s, could not be replaced by a standard model due to special dimensions and an embedded foundation.
Instead, the Berlin-based drive technology expert custom-tailored a new motor with a 1400kW performance to ensure 100% electrical and mechanical compatibility. The new motor required no additional on-site efforts to fit onto the existing base frame, thereby reducing the downtime during retrofitting to approximately 48 hours.
