Partial discharge monitoring
19 August 2014
Via leading Middle East group Al Masaood, a UAE gas and hydrocarbon company has awarded Quartzelec a long term Partial Discharge monitoring contract.

Electrical systems are critical for smooth overall operation; failures can lead to catastrophic losses with significant impact on the bottom line. The rotating 11 KV electrical machines covered by the agreement includes almost 30 generators, over 150 motors plus a variety of other electrical machines.
By performing online non-destructive partial discharge testing, at regular intervals using non-invasive sensors while the equipment is energised and operating at normal conditions and voltages, vital data can be obtained to develop an overall plan to ensure maintenance is focused on the most potentially undependable assets, minimising both risk and unnecessary spending.
