Live compressed air energy efficiency demo
07 November 2014
At EMEX 2014 – which takes place 19-20 November, at Excel, London – Atlas Copco will be giving energy managers an opportunity to see a live demonstration of the energy savings that can be achieved by optimising a compressed air network with the latest efficient compressors, innovative energy audit software and aluminium compressed air pipework.
With compressed air accounting for 12% of industrial energy consumption, the potential for savings is considerable. Visitors to Stand F10 will be able to see Atlas Copco’s latest breakthrough innovation in action, with a GA7VSD+ FF compressor running on stand to show just how quiet it is. Thanks to the integration of an ERP 2015 compliant efficient fan motor, which reduces electricity consumption and noise levels, the GA VSD+ runs at an impressive 62 dB(A). Most significantly for energy and plant managers, GA VSD+ compressors can provide industry-leading energy savings of 50% on average and a 13% leap in Free Air Delivery over the previous model, in addition to a canopy less than half the size of traditional fixed speed compressors.
By using compressed air from the GA VSD+, Atlas Copco will also demonstrate its AIRScan energy audit software which will be connected along with a flow meter, dew point meter and pressure logger, to the company’s lightweight and durable AIRNet aluminium piping to show how much energy can be saved in an optimised compressed air system. AIRScan is a measurement tool which provides companies with a highly accurate, independent survey report to pinpoint the areas where potential savings can be made within their plant or workplace. Atlas Copco is offering a 10% discount on AIRScan audits booked at the show.
Experts from Atlas Copco will also be on hand to explain how by following its six stage optimisation process, compressed air users can not only begin to fulfil the requirements of ISO 50001 and ESOS regulations but also implement a pattern of good practice that can deliver calculable financial and sustainability benefits year on year.
In addition, visitors will also be able to learn about other technologies from Atlas Copco that support sustainable productivity, including energy recovery systems, which enable as much as 94 per cent of the electrical energy used by an industrial air compressor to be recycled and redirected in the form of heat air or hot water, and the company’s robust and reliable oil-sealed vacuum pump systems.
