Magnetoresistive built-in speed sensor

06 December 2016

The new Type 4503B dual range torque sensor from Kistler Instruments has a wide measurement range of 0.2 to 5000Nm, high resolution rotational speed/angle measurement and high speed ranges of up to 50,000rpm.

For highly dynamic measurements the cut-off frequency of 10 kHz may be user customized by an integrated, digital, low-pass filter and the second measurement range can be flexibly scaled up to 1:10 or 1:5 of the rated torque. The new, fully scalable magnetoresistive speed and angle measurement system has a pulse frequency up to 8,192 pulses per revolution, with twin tracks displaced by 90° to provide clockwise and anticlockwise indication. A reference pulse is also available.

The fully digital, contactless signal transmission delivers a standard accuracy of 0.05 percent with ± 0 – 5/10 V DC signal outputs, an RS-232C serial data output and a USB interface.

The new, robust design is ideal for use in oil mist and other contaminated environments and overload protection of the lower range ensures reliable measurement with the greatest possible dynamics and accuracy in the most demanding industrial applications. The IP40 protection and anodised aluminium housing minimise routine maintenance needs in real world, production applications.

The new Type 4503B torque sensor provides industrial users the benefits of sensors which enable reliable measurement results and provide a solution that can be tailored to each application. Being compatible with previous versions, the new torque sensor can be integrated into existing systems with minimal effort.
