Exceeds EU Ecodesign
01 January 2017
As of 1 January, 2017, IE3-grade energy efficiency will be compulsory in the EU for mains-operated electric motors in the rated power range from 0.75 to 375kW.

In early 2016, NORD Drivesystems started offering motors rated 0.12 kW and higher according to IEC 60034-30-1 IE3 efficiency and NEMA MG1 Premium Efficiency, exceeding the legal requirements, specifically in the small performance range. These units make up the bulk of all motors currently in operation.
In order to make the changeover easy for machine and plant manufacturers, the dimensions of NORD’s IE3 motors remain largely identical to those of IE2 models, allowing for retrofitting without any modifications to machines and plants. Moreover, the NORD portfolio includes motors featuring an IE4 or Super Premium Efficiency rating that are inverter-controlled by default.
