Fusion splice connectors

17 March 2026

MANUFACTURER OF solutions for physical network and electrical infrastructure, Panduit, is introducing OmniSplice, a new generation of fusion-spliced fibre optic connectors.

With this product line, Panduit is expanding its portfolio in the fibre optic systems sector to include a high-performance solution for modern enterprise networks, as well as data centre and edge applications.

These fusion splice connectors, known as pre-polished splice connectors, have been specifically designed for environments where high transmission quality, reproducible results and short installation times are required. These connectors enable fast and reliable fusion splice termination processes to be carried out efficiently. The compact components are compatible with standard active fusion splicing equipment, such as that already in use in many installation, service and maintenance environments. This allows the connector to be integrated into existing work processes without the need for additional specialist tools or equipment-specific modifications.

A key technical feature of OmniSplice is the integration of the splice point directly into the connector housing. This eliminates the need for additional components such as pigtails, as well as the associated installation, space and documentation requirements. At the same time, the splice point is mechanically protected, which enhances the stability, long-term reliability and operational safety of the fibre-optic connection, particularly in environments with increased mechanical or operational demands.

The splice connectors feature pre-assembled, precisely pre-split fibre stubs and a specially developed holder design that supports the fusion splicing process. This design simplifies handling in the field, reduces potential sources of error and helps to achieve consistently good results regardless of the user’s level of experience. OmniSplice is therefore particularly suitable for applications where rapid commissioning, MACs (Moves, Adds, Changes) and service calls or repairs are required, even under time pressure.

With the ongoing expansion of fibre optic infrastructures in enterprise LANs, data centres and edge applications, there is a growing need for solutions that can be efficiently integrated into existing installation and operational processes. OmniSplice was developed against this backdrop and complements Panduit’s comprehensive fibre optic system portfolio, which includes fibre optic cables, connectors, patch panels, enclosures and cable management solutions, offering end-to-end fibre optic infrastructures from a single source.
