Motor Protection

Available with a range of trip temperatures from 60 to 190oC, the SPMP PTCs comply with the DIN 44081 industry standard.

The small PTC bead is protected with epoxy resin and a kynar shrink sleeve. The sensing head has a maximum diameter of just 4mm and gives a fast thermal response of less than 5 seconds. The standard version has 200mm long 26AWG PTFE leads but longer leads, triplet versions (to DIN 44082) and various mounting options are also available in volume applications.

Although primarily designed for electric motor protection, the PTC sensors also offer a solution to numerous electrical and electronic circuits that require a simple step- function response to an over- temperature condition – basically they operate as solid-state thermal switches.
