Meet us at MACH

10 March 2014

The next show at which CDA will be exhibiting is MACH, the NEC, Birmingham showcase for advances in manufacturing and run by the UK-based trade association Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA). It is a biennial exhibition and, while this time it coincides exactly with the dates for Hanover, this is the year when less emphasis is placed on the automation industries. Therefore, we have decided to next visit Hannover in 2015 and focus entirely on MACH and its six co-located shows (Drives an

MACH is progressively diversifying and all aspects of manufacturing at all levels of the supply chain and support services are represented in specialised zones in two halls. In 2012 over 6000 tonnes of live working machinery were on display at MACH, attracting over 21,500 visitors. At MACH 2014 Airbus, Rolls-Royce and Messier Bugatti Dowty will be joining the event as exhibitors and will contribute to the seminar programme running throughout the week.

MACH follows the last exhibition where we had a presence, Southern Manufacturing at Farnborough. As visitors and exhibitors will know, the show was disrupted on Day One by torrential rain and extremely high winds, which played a merry tune with the canvas roof. At around 1pm, the organisers called for an early closure of the show and evacuated the building. This operation was carried out without a hint of panic but took about 30 minutes to complete.

In true British manufacturing style, the engineers attending the event quietly returned to their stands to collect coats and laptops before queuing to leave the venue. Unsurprisingly, clearing the car park took somewhat longer! One exhibitor said "There were people in hi-vis running around with wood and impact drivers bracing the structure, and a growing puddle of water coming up through the floor! Good stuff on display though and a good show!"
