Connected Enterprise event races ahead
19 September 2014
Over 100 engineers, technicians and managers from some of Ireland's most important and forward thinking manufacturing companies converged at the Mondello Park racing circuit for the Connected Enterprise event, organised by Hanley Automation in association with Rockwell Automation and Cisco.
In an ever more digitised world, where talk is moving beyond the 'internet of things' to the 'internet of everything', attendees got an insight into what issues the future business landscape might throw up in terms of emerging economies, environment and energy issues, and social demographics; and how these challenges can be met by creating new value, balancing talent 'mismatch', and addressing energy management and urbanisation.
The event went on to discuss Rockwell and Cisco's shared vision of Connected Enterprise, promoting productivity, sustainability and agility. Particular emphasis was placed upon the role that big data can play in this, along with the importance of IT and OT working together in the manufacturing sector, and the inevitable security issues arising from increased connectivity.
