Multi-purpose sensor products
27 January 2016
RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents, is adding Measurement Specialties sensors to its portfolio after winning the go-ahead from TE Connectivity, which acquired the company in 2014. The move gives RS access to a broad array of sensors and technologies engineered to deliver high-performance in diverse applications and demanding environments.
The Measurement Specialties range includes multi-sensor modules and combination sensors such as temperature/humidity sensors, in a variety of packages, sizes and footprints, including both on-board and off-board solutions. The complete range includes pressure, position, temperature, humidity, force, and fluid-properties sensors, designed in accordance with best practice and approved by industry standards organisations.
Designed to meet specialist requirements and the toughest specifications, the sensors are typically housed in packages that are rugged, chemically inert, and able to withstand challenging conditions such as high temperatures, high humidity, harsh vibration or corrosive atmospheres. At the same time the range promotes easy design-in, and many products use Total Error Band as the primary performance criteria.
The new connection between RS and Measurement Specialties also gives access to extensive manufacturer applications knowledge and custom-engineering support to create tailored solutions for specific demands, including build-to-print projects.
“The Measurement Specialties portfolio significantly strengthens our offering to customers across industrial, medical scientific and consumer markets, and will enable us to grow our business with TE,” commented Kevin McCormack, Global Head of IP&E at RS. “There are clear synergies with TE’s connectors, particularly as major trends such as the Internet of Things raise demands for robust, well-matched sensing and connectivity solutions.”
