YuMi scoops top awards
30 August 2016
ABB’s YuMi robot has been presented with the prestigious ‘Invention and Entrepreneurship in Robotics and Automation’ (IERA) award by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and the International Federation of Robotics. The collaborative robot has also been awarded a Golden Finger award as one of the best industrial robots of 2016 at the China International Robot Show (CIROS) in Shanghai.
Launched in 2015, YuMi has already had a major impact across industry, including opening up new opportunities in applications previously deemed unsuitable for robotic automation. With no need for barriers, cages or zones, YuMi is able to work safely side-by-side with human workers, enabling organisations to achieve enhanced productivity by combining the speed and dexterity of robots with the skills of their manual workers.
In April 2016, the YuMi robot solution was also recognised for outstanding achievements in commercialising innovative robot technology with the prestigious Invention and Entrepreneurship Award (IERA) during the Automatica trade fair in Munich, Germany.
