Aventics honoured with IIoT award

18 July 2018

Aventics Hungary has received the 'Best Prepared Industry 4.0 Plant' award for excellence in digitalisation. The prize is awarded as part of the “Factory of the Year 2017” contest sponsored by the Hungarian Ministry of the National Economy. In 2017, the Aventics plant in Eger was named Factory of the Year 2016.

The Factory of the Year contest is a national competition organized by the publishing group PPH Média and sponsored by the Hungarian Ministry of the National Economy. For the second time after 2017, an independent jury has evaluated significant industrial companies in the new Industry 4.0 category.

Aventics Hungary started digitalisation in 2008, when it found that the constantly growing complexity of the Eger plant could no longer be managed with conventional tools. “Over the past ten years, we have been launching several development projects at our production site in Eger, including, for example, paperless production and an online production tracking system connecting our equipment to a network,” says István Gödri, Managing Director of Aventics Hungary. “Overall, we have integrated various solutions offering return along with a tangible increase in efficiency, helping us give a better response to challenges of the market. Repetitive and monotonous tasks in the production process have been automated or robotized, and the human resources thus relieved are used for activities with higher added value.”

As a result of industry 4.0 solutions, lead-time has been reduced by more than 40 per cent in the past decade. Recovery of disruptions has become faster with a smaller number of complaints, while productivity and efficiency improved, with a 10% increase in on-time delivery. Meanwhile, the number of production lines has grown from 18 to 54 and the number of staff from 290 to 570.
