Flexible Platform for Realising New Designs
24 October 2012
Addressing the fast-growing Ethernet-based machine automation market, ABB has launched a featurerich servomotor drive range.

Compatible with numerous industrial Ethernet protocols, the drives offer a universal encoder interfacing capability, local motion control programming, and integrated functional safety capability. These features provide an enormously flexible platform for realising new machinery designs.
ABB’s MicroFlex e150 singlephase drives offer output powers up to 9A. Real-time operation with EtherCAT, and compatibility with EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and TCP/IP protocols provide a ‘universal’ drive platform that can be employed in many different ways.
The drives feature a powerful embedded programming capability. They can be used standalone for a vast array of single-axis or distributed intelligence motion control applications, from performing simple moves to complex motion such as flying shears or cam profiles. Built-in I/O – including fast latch inputs for registration applications – is standard.
A flexible encoder interfacing capability adds to versatility of application. Drives may be connected to dual encoders – one incremental, and one serial base encoder such as EnDat2.2, SSI or BiSS. A further major feature is support for Safe Torque Off (STO) functional safety.
