Microcontrollers and processors for IoT, ML and AI applications
24 February 2025
GLOBAL DISTRIBUTOR of electronic components and industrial automation products, Mouser Electronics is now shipping the Ensemble microcontroller and processor family from Alif Semiconductor. The Ensemble series creates a scalable and compatible continuum of integrated embedded processors for low-end to high-end intelligent IoT end-point devices in automotive, smart home, healthcare, robotics, and industrial control applications.

The Alif Semiconductor Ensemble series, available from Mouser, scales from single Arm Cortex-M55 microcontrollers (MCU) to multi-core fusion processors. The multi-core devices combine two Cortex-M55 MCU cores, up to two Cortex-A32 Microprocessors (MPU), and up to two Arm Ethos-U55s. The Ensemble family uses autonomous intelligent power management (aiPM) technology to extend battery life and integrates full secure element functionality, such as root-of-trust, dedicated protected memory, and a dedicated security processor.
The E1 series MCUs feature an Arm Cortex-M55 160MHz core and can operate with a real-time operating system (RTOS) utilising only the on-chip memory resources. The E1 devices support wired interfaces, including USB, SDIO, CANFD, I3C, and I2C for lighting control, smart homes, and industrial sense/control applications.
The E3 series MCUs combine both a 400MHz Arm Cortex-M55 and a 160MHz Arm Cortex-M55 real-time cores. Machine learning and AI tasks are accelerated by dual Arm Ethos-U55 neural processing units generating 250 GigaOPS supporting wired interfaces, including Ethernet, USB, SDIO, CANFD, I3C, and I2C. These devices are ideal for barcode scanners, failure prediction, and portable healthcare applications.
The E5 MCUs are embedded tri-core fusion processors with one Arm Cortex-A32 800MHz application core, one 400MHz Arm Cortex-M55 real-time core, and a 160MHz Arm Cortex-M55 real-time core. These devices can operate with an RTOS, LinuxOS, or both while using only the on-chip memory resources and support multiple interfaces, including Ethernet, USB, SDIO, CANFD, I3C, and I2C for appliances, robotics, and graphical control panels.
The E7 series MCUs are embedded quad-core fusion processors with two Arm Cortex-A32 application cores, one 400MHz Arm Cortex-M55 real-time core and one 160MHz real-time core. ML and AI tasks are accelerated by dual Arm Ethos-U55 neural processing units generating 250 GigaOPS and support Ethernet, USB, SDIO, CANFD, I3C, and I2C interfaces for building automation, EV recharging stations, and point-of-sale systems.
