PTA ceramic pressure sensor
23 October 2025
SICK HAS unveiled its new PTA ceramic pressure sensor for pressure measurement and control. Especially robust against pressure spikes because of the ceramic cell, the next generation of SICK high-end pressure transmitters offers a wide range of features and benefits.

The new PTA pressure sensor family is equipped with a high level of digital integration, various process connections, outputs, measurement ranges, approvals and connectivity features, including Bluetooth for remote setup and commissioning directly from SICK Smart Assistant App.
Suitable for almost every application environment, including sticky and/or highly viscous media, the PTA sensor has either a thin film or ceramic membrane and is enclosed in a fully welded stainless steel measurement cell. Quick and simple to install, it is highly resistant to aggressive media and certified for use in hygienic applications (PTAM) – with EHEDG and 3A certification – and those requiring ATEX EX approval.
The high-performance PTA ceramic pressure sensor can be used across a wide array of industrial applications, from mobile automation, machine tooling, vacuum evaporators, pneumatics, electronics, cooling lubrication systems and hydraulics, to automotive, solar machinery, packaging and processing, consumer goods, pharma and dairy. ATEX EX rating and hygiene certifications make it suitable for facilities such as distilleries that require both hygienic and hazardous area approvals.
PTA pressure sensors can be used for hydrostatic measurement when filling vessels and dosing processes. Front flush and hygienic process connections makes them ideally suited to sticky or highly viscous media and beverages. The ceramic measuring cell is especially robust against pressure spikes and for applications with abrasive media. Capable of handling pressure ranges between -1 and +1000 bar (absolute and relative pressure), the PTA sensors also provide high accuracy of +/- 0.3%, and a process temperature range from -40 to +130°C.
With a very high level of digital integration (IO-Link/ Bluetooth), different signal options (analogue and/or digital switching outputs), and standard electrical and process connections, the PTA ceramic pressure sensor range is quick and simple to install and set up. The optional Bluetooth connection module delivers I4.0 connectivity and functionality via the SICK Smart Assistant App, providing easy configuration, parameter changes, diagnostics and sensor values from mobile and IO devices.
The plug-and-play PTA sensor is simple to install and comes with threaded, front flush and hygienic process connections to cover a wide range of applications. The clear, multi-colour LED-status indicator is visible 360° at a distance, while remote data and configuration provide greater mounting flexibility. A wide range of compatible accessories, including siphon tubes for high temperatures, complements the PTA range.
