Simplifies the move to open standards

GLOBAL PROVIDER of Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity products and services, Digi International has announced global availability of the Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC system-on-module (SOM) Development Kit.

Among the first to deliver a SMARC module as part of a complete, ready-to-deploy solution rather than as bare hardware, Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC goes beyond hardware by including security, lifecycle management and cloud services. Rather than leaving OEMs to source and integrate the required software and services themselves, Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC delivers everything needed to build, secure and scale a connected product in one module: five years of bundled Digi ConnectCore Cloud Services, built-in Digi TrustFence security and lifecycle management, all included in the module price. Built on the NXP i.MX 95 processor, Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC adds on-device AI, pre-certified tri-band Wi-Fi 6E and a socketed SMARC form factor. Device manufacturers can deploy secure medical, industrial and retail products without sourcing separate software or building their own infrastructure.
Most SMARC modules deliver only processing and connectivity hardware, leaving OEMs to source, integrate and maintain cloud connectivity, over-the-air (OTA) updates, security monitoring and compliance tooling on their own. With the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) now mandating ongoing software maintenance and security patching, assembling those capabilities in-house adds months of engineering effort and years of maintenance costs before a single device ships.
Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC closes that gap. The socketed SMARC 2.2 module (82 x 50 mm) provides up to six Arm® Cortex®-A55 cores, an NXP eIQ Neutron NPU delivering up to 2 TOPS of on-device AI performance and tri-band Wi-Fi 6E plus Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. Every module comes with Digi ConnectCore Cloud Services for lifecycle management: SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, with five years of bundled OTA updates, fleet monitoring and device provisioning. Digi TrustFence adds secure boot, hardware root of trust, encrypted storage and SBOM generation, giving OEMs the secure foundation to ship CRA-compliant products from day one. Exclusive design tools like Smart IOmux let engineers map the interfaces a project needs, validate a board design in minutes and migrate that design cleanly across the ConnectCore family for future-proof product architectures.
As a member of SGET (Standardiation Group for Embedded Technologies), which maintains the SMARC specification, Digi built Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC to the open standard, giving engineers an interoperable embedded compute module platform that reduces design risk by simplifying integration. In addition to SMARC, Digi ConnectCore 95 is also available in the Digi SMTplus form factor (40 x 45 mm).
“Digi ConnectCore 95 SMARC gives customers an edge computing platform in an open-standard form factor with security and lifecycle management built in from day one,” said Andreas Burghart, senior product manager at Digi. “It’s more than a SOM. It delivers compute and connectivity along with security and managed cloud services as regulations like the CRA raise the bar for manufacturers of connected products around the world. No trials, no additional cost, no separate contracts, no infrastructure to build.”
