Successful start for Stäubli’s biggest robot

20 August 2024

SINCE ITS premier just over a year ago, the Stäubli TX2-200 high-performance six-axis robot has been used in specialised applications spanning many industries – and feedback from the market and from Stäubli partners is reported to have been consistently positive.

"We are delighted that the TX2-200 meets user and partner expectations in a wide range of applications. As was initially the case in standard applications, the robot in HE and Stericlean versions now also satisfies in hygiene-sensitive applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries," says Rudolf M. Weiss, global head of life sciences and food.

The TX2-200 builds on the technical foundation of its proven predecessor, the TX200. The new generation offers further improvements in nearly all areas; for example, compared to its predecessor, the load capacity of the TX2-200 increased by over 30%, from 130 to 170kg. In the long arm version, the increase is nearly 40%, from 80 to 110kg. The reach in the standard version is 2209mm, and 2609mm with the long arm.

Another special feature of the robot is its updated safety technology. The TX2-200 is equipped with the latest safety features, which meet the strict requirements of safety category SIL 3/PL e and thus guarantee the highest level of safety. This makes them safe to use in various levels of human-robot collaboration with no need for work areas separated by protective fences. This allows manufacturers to realize highly efficient production concepts without restrictions.

The TX2-200 also outshines its predecessor in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency. The developers succeeded in reducing the energy consumption of the large six-axis robot by 10% during operation and up to 40% in standby mode. With this best-in-class energy consumption, annual cost savings can range between EUR 1500 and 5750, depending on the comparative model, which corresponds to a CO2 reduction of 3 to 13t.

There are also many other improvements, from the robot’s hygienic design, drive technology, sealing, safety technology, and the materials used to the controller, which is now 40% smaller. Pioneering hygienic design, safety features, and mechanical qualities make this robot a real multitasker that can impress in environmental conditions ranging from harsh to super clean.
