Modular high speed precision pick & place solution
25 April 2013
Power and automation specialist, ABB will showcase key new features of its IRB 360 FlexPicker with the unveiling of an innovative modular concept solution offering high speed precision pick and placement.
Leading ABB’s palletising offer and another of the live robot demonstrations on the stand is the compact IRB 460 – claimed to be the fastest palletising robot in the world. Capable of up to 2190 cycles per hour, this 4-axis robot is suited to high-speed end-of-line palletising and bag palletising. The IRB 460 is also said to occupy 20% less floor space and runs 15% faster than its nearest rivals.
The stand will also feature ABB’s smallest six axis multi-purpose robot, the IRB 120, together with the IRC5 compact single phase controller, offering all the functionality and expertise of the ABB range but in a much smaller package.
Said to be the most portable and effortless to integrate without any restrictions on mounting, the lightweight robot arm is aimed at pick and place applications. It is also available as an ISO 5 (Class 100) cleanroom version, an ideal option for food and beverage, pharmaceutical and packaging applications.
Initially released for the IRB 120 but now an optional controller with other robots in the ABB range, the IRC5 Compact controller offers the capabilities of the powerful IRC5 controller in a compact format. Delivering space saving benefits and easy commissioning through single phase power input, it utilises many of the features of the IRC5 controller with familiar programming and operation, ensuring no additional training is required.
