Pressure sensor for viscous and abrasive media
04 September 2026
NEW FROM ifm, the PF15 series flush G1/2 pressure sensor with integrated display is engineered to monitor processes with highly viscous or abrasive media directly on the system. The new PF15 series combines a robust ceramic measuring cell with an integral display and parameter setting, giving process and plant engineers immediate visibility at the measuring point.

The PF15 series addresses a persistent challenge in pipeline monitoring: media that adhere to internal surfaces, cause blockages, or damage to conventional measuring cells under high pressure. The extremely robust ceramic measuring cell withstands highly viscous and abrasive media as well as pressure peaks, making the sensor a dependable choice for demanding applications such as wastewater pumps, paint delivery lines and abrasive slurries.
A flush measuring cell eliminates dead space where media could accumulate, effectively preventing pipe blockages. ifm's reliable sealing concept ensures that fluid media such as water or paints cannot enter the thread area of the process connection, even under high pressure. This prevents media from settling, mixing with subsequent media during the process, or causing contamination.
The sensor provides continuous, simultaneous measurement of pressure and temperature via IO-Link, reducing the number of measuring locations required; alternatively, an analogue output and digital output are provided. A rotatable display provides a clear read-out of the current process value, whilst proven three-button operation allows the PF15 to be configured directly on site without additional tools or software.
In terms of performance, the PF15 series achieves a characteristics deviation of less than ±0.5 % of the span (to DIN EN 62828-1) and a temperature accuracy of ±2.0 K. The sensor is rated to IP67, IP68 and IP69, supports a medium temperature range of -25 to 80 °C, and features wetted parts made from ceramic, PTFE, FKM and V4A (1.4435 / 316L) for broad media compatibility.
Ten variants are available to suit a wide range of applications, with measuring ranges spanning from -1...1 bar up to 0...100 bar. This range allows users to select the model that most closely matches their process pressure, from low-pressure monitoring through to high-pressure pipelines.
For applications with comparable media where an on-device display or parameter setting is not required, ifm offers the PL13 / PL15 series pressure sensors as a display-free alternative.
