Improving efficiency & productivity

26 February 2016

Available through UK distributor, Quin Systems, the latest family of motors from LinMot combines a linear motor and a servomotor in a single compact assembly. Highly dynamic linear rotary motion sequences can be programmed to be either synchronous or independent of each other.

The product was developed in response to demand from machine builders for a more efficient and flexible solution for applications which require both linear and rotary motions, such as threading, closing and pick and place.

On the PR01 range of motors a compact housing contains both an electromagnetic linear drive and a rotary direct drive, each controlled by a servo drive. Position, motion, linear force and rotary torque can be programmed while all electric servo motor technology results in lower energy costs than pneumatic alternatives.

The motors are reported to be ideal for bottle capping applications and are particularly attractive for reducing the size and improving the performance of multi-axis carousel closure systems.

In comparison with mechanical closure systems, linear rotary motors require up to 60% less time for a closure process which dramatically increases productivity, asserts Quin Systems, which can advise on motor sizing and selection for specific applications.
