Ultra high torque in a compact package
11 June 2018
Portescap offers two more new length sizes under its ECT range of Ultra EC Brushless Slotless motors – the 35mm 22ECT35 and the 48mm 22ECT48. As well as offering higher torque capacity, the new 22ECT motors are light in weight and come in a compact package which helps in further miniaturisation of the customer application.

With almost 50% more continuous torque than similar comparative motors, the 22ECT motors are optimised for high continuous torque at low to medium speeds, maximising power between 10K and 20Krpm. They are powered by Portescap's Ultra Coil Technology and multipolar rotor design, which provides torque of up to 41.6mNm.
The 22ECT motor weighs almost 28% less than comparative motors and is claimed to be the lightest 4 pole motor that can be adapted in most applications in the medical and industrial markets, particuarly in industrial hand tools where high torque lightweight motor is required to reduce the fatigue of the user. The new 22ECT is also said to be an ideal choice for applications such as humanoid robots, lab automation equipment, electric grippers, land surveying devices.
Low inertia makes them a particularly suitable option for applications requiring fast stopping, starting and acceleration.
The new 22ECT motors are available with hall sensors and three different coils to match speed and voltage requirements. Upon request, Portescap can also provide options for customisation including gearboxes, encoders, coil variations and mechanical interface modifications.
