Harsh-environment linear position measurement
31 August 2022
ILT SERIES linear position sensors from Variohm EuroSensor sister company, Ixthus Instrumentation, offer a cost-effective choice for precision linear measurement tasks in harsh duty areas such as construction and agricultural machinery, and heavy-duty industrial plant.

The durable and robust IP67/69K rated sensor has an independent linearity specification of +/- 0.25% (FSO at 20°C) and is supplied in a choice of eleven stroke lengths from 25 to 600mm. The ILTs non-contacting inductive sensor technology measurement principle offers long-life and maximum reliability with MTBF rated at 360,000 hrs. A 35mm diameter anodised aluminium housing provides maximum protection for the sensor electronics with vibration and shock ratings specifications of 10 and 40g respectively (IEC-68-2-6 and IEC-68-2-29).
The mechanical and electrical options built into ILT series make selection and installation straightforward. Standard mounting options for the rod-style sensor include optional steel or plastic 8mm diameter rod ends, alternatively M8 female threads at both ends may be specified. A choice of four standard electrical output/input options include 0.5…4.5 VDC from a 24VDC input as well as 0.5…4.5V ratiometric from a nominal +5VDC. Other options are 2- and 3-wire options for 4…20mA output from a 24VDC input. The extended operational temperature range for the 2m screened cable interfaced option, available across the ILT series, is -40 to +100°C with the ratiometric version offering an extended upper limit to 125°C. Alternatively an M12 connector version is available with temperature range limited to -40 to +85°C and an overall environmental sealing rating derated to IP67.
