Software Options Build Up Basic Robot Profile

Fanuc’s new R-30iB robot controller uses the same platform as the new, completely revised Fanuc 30i CNC controller, and supports more than 4096 I/O, 40 axes control and eight motion groups, up to four line-tracking encoders and most common industrial communication/bus systems

Making programming and interaction easier, the new Fanuc iPendant Touch which with a 4D graphic function, provides real-time visualisation of a process on its touch screen monitor. Typically, using 3D graphic simulations, the programmer can save time by easily seeing all active safety zones.

In addition, there is a wide range of software options that can provide increased performance, improved security and enhanced features for the mechanical unit, available for the areas:

PHYSICAL PROTECTION
Fanuc Collision Guard provides a highly sensitive method to detect whether a robot has collided with any object from any direction, and to stop the robot immediately in any incident. Collision Guard can be used in all directions, which is not the case with conventional hardware, and also protects the robot, the gripper and its surroundings. In contrast, hardware solutions only protect the gripper.

The Fanuc Approach Deterrence Function prevents collision risks in detecting a near miss between one robot and another or a fixed object by using fast Ethernet links to continually monitor the distance between robots, end-effectors and tooling. When the distance becomes less than a pre-set value, the robots decelerate to a stop, thereby preventing a crash from occurring.

DATA SECURITY
The risk of not performing a back-up can be very costly in terms of security, time and production losses. The Fanuc Automatic Back-up function enables the user to back up and restore an older programme if necessary. Just like a PC, taking a regular, scheduled back-up allows a user to recover data (system variables and teach pendant programmes) quickly and efficiently.

Using external devices offers higher security and a simple PCMCIA memory card may be used to save all data. Backups may also be performed and stored on the network, allowing fast and easy access without limits on file size. With a large number of robot installations, it is possible to program the automatic back-up via the Fanuc PC File Service, enabling users to back up and restore robot application files from many robots to a single PC via Ethernet.

PASSWORD FUNCTION
This software protects the robot data from unauthorised access, with additional features including login history, multiple accounts and system data protection. The password is a combination of up to 12 letters, numbers and symbols used to allow access to various operations and screens. Four password levels provide access to specific operations and menus:
  • Installation level with open access to all functions
  • Setup level with full access to setup and programming functions
  • Programme level with access to programming functions
  • Read-only access to setup
