The difference is clear

Dispelling the view that when it comes to light towers one product is very much like another, Werma showcased its new ClearSIGN product at the recent SPS/IPC/Drives 2014. Leveraging the latest developments in LED technology and lighting controls, ClearSIGN offers a high degree of functionality in a slim, aesthetically pleasing design.

Alongside the proven 24V power supply, an IO link version is available for the first time which, says the company, will considerably increase application possibilities. For example, using an IO link enables the device to be used as a level or temperature indicator. The final tower fills up with light and changes colour when a critical level or condition is reached.
RGB LEDs allow a wide variety of colours to be selected for any tier of the tower, giving the operator flexibility in light effect, intensity and colour. The optical signal can be enhanced with an audible alarm.
Werma also used the show to highlight its WIN (Wireless Information Network), an easy-to-install wireless monitoring system, which can be fitted to virtually any piece of equipment or machinery, regardless of age or specification. The common interface point is a Werma signal tower to whichthe WIN system can be easily fitted and commissioned.
An additional element, called the 'WIN salve' is fitted to the KombiSIGN signal tower. This transmits machine status information wirelessly to the 'WIN master' (receiver). The WIN master is connected by USB to a PC and can receive data from up to 50 WIN salves each reporting a maximum of 8 different status conditions. Status changes are saved to a database and the software provides a comprehensive overview of the status of the machine shop or workstations.
The system has an unobstructed line of sight range of 300m, although this will vary according to the construction of the building. As each WIN slave acts as a repeater, effective transmission distances can be extended to 900m between the WIN salve and WIN master.
