Motovario Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation, Quality and Service
26 January 2015
Since 1965 Motovario® has provided technologically advanced solutions in the transmission components field for industrial and civil applications worldwide. Synonymous with innovation, quality and service, as one of the World's leading manufacturers of industrial gears and electric motors, it is well placed to serve its customers from the new purpose built assembly plant, warehouse and office facility in Droitwich, Worcestershire.

This facility now houses the company’s latest MAC – Motovario Assembly Centre, which assembles gear units from component parts at reduced leads times and can offer a fast build service within one hour for a size range up to 14,000 Nm. In addition, the companies’ warehouse holds stock levels £1.25m, which offers improved productivity and the on-site training facility is ideal for the development of staff, distributors and customers.
This is the third MAC centre to be opened in the UK, with the other two strategically located at the company’s partners Betech, West Yorkshire and JJ Loughran, Northern Ireland.
In addition to the MAC’s, Motovario also has several specialist distributors throughout the UK. They all offer technical expertise and excellent product knowledge and response time including newly appointed Rotamec in Cheddar.
This year, Motovario is celebrating 50 years as a successful designer and manufacturer of innovative motors and gears. At the company’s Italian factory in Formigine, it boasts a production plant spanning 50.000m2 and employing 500 people.
Tailoring the product to the customer’s requirements is one of Motovario’s key benefits.
Customers simply detail the application and their requirements and Motovario can provide gears and motors to meet their individual needs. With global experience addressing a host of industries including food processing, agriculture, mining/quarry, energy and materials handling, the company is well placed to find the right solution for the right application.
Motovario’s range of geared motors includes, the H Series Helical gear reducers, B Series Helical Bevel gear reducers and S Series shaft mounted gear reducers. Each has been designed to meet varying working conditions and all offer high reliability and performance with a 2 year warranty.
The company’s inverter motor range has been enhanced with the introduction of the Drivon® family - a fully integrated inverter motor which cuts time to market and boosts performance and efficiency.
This new inverter motor features state-ofthe- art field-oriented control, with built-in Safe Torque Off (STO) and flying motor restart that simplifies system integration and product approval testing.
Motovario’s advanced vector control algorithms maintain torque over a wide frequency range, minimise demand for cooling, and enhance tolerance of over-torque conditions. The integrated STO with dedicated input provides operator safety in accordance with EN954-1 cat-3 and IEC 61508 SIL2. Flying motor restart provides greater efficiency and additional protection of the circuitry for longterm reliability. In addition, optional dynamic braking with energy recovery ensures fast response to changing speed demands and minimises operating costs.
A smart keypad simplifies user set-up, and each Drivon also has a USB port for configuration and monitoring.
Typical speed range is 0-3000 rpm, and single/three phase power ratings are from 0.25kW to 5.5kW. Applications include conveyors, palletizers, pumps, fans, mixers, rotary tables, presses, winders, unwinders and elevators.
