Detection camera to simplify AI-based quality control
11 November 2025
OMRON HAS announced the launch of the FHV7-AI Detection Camera, the latest addition to its proven family of industrial vision systems. The new model combines advanced AI-driven inspection capabilities with a simplified, step-by-step user interface and a compact, all-in-one design – reducing engineering time and overall cost of ownership. This allows manufacturers and machine builders to implement high-accuracy inspection without complex setup or specialised expertise, or inflated product budgets

The FHV7-AI Detection Camera brings the power of artificial intelligence to visual inspection on the production line. By automatically selecting and learning from just a few sample images, it eliminates the need for lengthy manual configuration. Setup time is reduced from hours to just minutes, while the system continuously adapts to product variations to ensure stable, reliable results. This technology is ideal for common inspection tasks such as checking for missing components, verifying correct product types, identifying scratches or dents, and ensuring date codes are present and legible.
A new, user-friendly interface provides clear, on-screen instructions that guide operators through every stage of the setup process. From adjusting lighting and focus to registering a reference image and teaching the system product variations, each step is designed for ease of use.
Even operators with limited vision experience can create robust inspection processes, reducing reliance on highly skilled engineers and speeding up deployment.
Engineered for harsh industrial conditions, the FHV7-AI features an IP67-rated housing with integrated white LED lighting and five autofocus lens options. This compact, self-contained design eliminates the need for external enclosures, lenses, or additional hardware, lowering both initial setup and ongoing maintenance costs. A streamlined, reduced part-number structure also makes for easy product selection and stocking options, helping teams standardize inventory,
The flexible autofocus function covers a wide focal range of 59 mm to 2,000 mm, automatically adapting when switching between different product sizes. This makes changeovers faster and more efficient, helping manufacturers improve productivity while maintaining high quality standards.
By combining powerful AI capabilities with ease of use and a cost-effective, scalable design, the FHV7-AI Detection Camera opens up new possibilities for manufacturers of all sizes. It enables them to automate inspections that were previously too complex or costly to implement, supporting consistent product quality, reducing waste, and helping maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
The FHV7-AI is particularly suited for industries such as food and beverage, packaging, automotive, and consumer goods, where accuracy, reliability, and traceability are critical.
