Schneider Electric and Spurs celebrate five years of partnership

14 October 2024

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC and Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) are celebrating five years of partnership by reflecting on the club’s ability to minimise the environmental impact of its activities across all operations, with the aim of achieving the ultimate goal of being net-zero by 2040.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is featured in every category of the latest 2024 Sports+ Positive League Club Environmental Sustainability Report, which assesses each Premier League club’s efforts across several important sustainability considerations. It retains its position as the most technologically advanced stadium in the world for reducing environmental impact due to its 100% renewable electricity, clean energy generation on-site, published net-zero targets, public commitment to sustainability, building management systems that ensure efficient use of resources, 100% diversion of waste from landfill, and water reuse efforts.

Commenting on the partnership David Pownall, services vice president at Schneider Electric UK&I said: " We are proud to collaborate with Tottenham Hotspur and play a crucial role in maintaining their top position in sustainability. At the heart of the Club’s sustainability progress is their Schneider Electric Service Plan Membership, which ensures minimised downtime through expert advice, expedited emergency response SLAs, and round-the-clock monitoring. It’s essential for the smooth running of this iconic venue which plays host to upwards of 60,000 fans at football, rugby, and NFL games as well as boxing and concerts. Downtime in a stadium like this, that hosts large scale events regularly, would have a huge impact with unthinkable consequences, and therefore must be mitigated at every point possible."

Implementing Schneider Electric’s Service Plan Membership solutions not only enhances the operational performance of the venue, but also contributes to a more sustainable future, the partnership is enabling Spurs to achieve its environmental objectives while delivering an unparalleled experience for fans and stakeholders alike.

Service plan memberships, such as the recently launched EcoCare, enable customers to minimise downtime, extend asset lifecycles and gives on-site teams access to 24/7 remote monitoring and alarming provided by Schneider Electric experts from its global network of Connected Services Hubs.

Through these services, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium benefits from tailored solutions that address the unique critical power needs of a world-class facility while prioritising sustainability. This service model provided the framework for Tottenham Hotspur to be named as one of the Premier League’s greenest clubs for four years running by the UN-backed Sport Positive Summit.

Ben Selkirk, head of stadium facilities at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club added: “Futureproofing our operations through sustainability is key to ensuring we continue to put our planet first. The collaboration with Schneider Electric has been instrumental in our sustainability journey and operational excellence.”

With Schneider Electric’s new state-of-the-art Connected Services Hub now fully operational as a base for Service Plan Memberships such as EcoCare throughout the UK and Ireland, businesses of all sizes can now use Schneider Electric as a dedicated partner to provide tailored solutions and ongoing service plans that help to reach unique sustainability and operational goals. This five-year celebration provided a unique opportunity to showcase how Schneider Electric's cutting-edge solutions have revolutionised energy management within the world's most technologically advanced stadium.
